Connectors for harsh environments
We deliver pre-assembled fiber optic cables and connectors for harsh environments, such as communications, transport and industrial markets.
Harsh environment connectors are installed in many different types of environments such as coastal areas, wind turbines, urban buildings, and rural tower sites where extreme temperatures, vibration, salt mist, dirt and humidity are all typical challenges. Therefore, robustness and reliability are crucial for fiber optic interfaces. Additionally, the interface needs to be safe to install and must not cause any installation errors – this is essential to compensate for unskilled installers.

Types
ODC® (outdoor connector) with 2 or 4 fibers is an extremely robust connector which withstands all installation hazards and does not permit handling errors. ODC makes installations more reliable and guarantees highest performance, and is available in two versions: ODC-2 and ODC-4.   Â
Variantions:
- ODC®-2: fiber optic interface with 2 fibers, single-mode or multimode, for installation in communication, transportation, and industrial market.
- ODC®-4: fiber optic interface with 4 fibers for installation in communication, transportation, and industrial market.
Â
Features:
- 2 or 4 fibers, single-mode or multimode
- Compact design with 2/4 x 1.25 mm ferrules
- Built-in socket with square or hexagonal flange
- Extension connector for cable chaining
- Screwed locking mechanism
- Easy and safe installation
- Waterproof, dust proof and corrosion resistant
- Waterproof protection caps
- EMI protected
- RoHs compliant
- Full compatibility with previous version
- Fulfils performance standard IEC 61753-1 Cat. E
Q-ODC® (quick-lock outdoor connector) with 2, 12 or 24 fibers is an improved version of ODC for applications with a large amount of connectors and / or vibrations.
Variations:
- Q-ODC®-2: the connector with 2 fibers is a standard fiber optic interface for cabling solutions.
- Q-ODC®-2 Mini: based on the Q-ODC-2 and transfers its advantages to a 50 % reduced size with 40 % less weight. It is applicable in various applications.
- Q-ODC®-2 Industry: specific connectors are needed in industrial applications. The Q-ODC-2 Industry is appropriate for industrial environments that require the highest level of safety during installation.
- Q-ODC®-12: the connector with 12 optical fibers is equipped with MTP ferrules and characterized by a market proven mating mechanism.
- Q-ODC®-12 Industry: based on the Q-ODC-12, this connector is optimised for industrial applications. It is typically installed in underground mining.
- Q-ODC®-24: Q-ODC can be equipped with up to 24 optical fibers. The Q-ODC-24 features are a robust push-pull coupling mechanism and two clearly defined mating states.
- Q-ODC®-24 Industry: based on the Q-ODC®-24, this connector has characteristics optimised for industrial applications.
