Docsis

For the implementation of Docsis technology, several central components are necessary. In the headend, a CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) is required, serving as the interface between the network operator and the customers. The CMTS unit manages and distributes internet traffic over the cable network. In addition to the CMTS unit, essential components for the operation and administration of the Docsis network include an NMS server (Network Management System) and a router.

On the customer's side, a cable modem is installed.

In summary, the Docsis network is configured with a CMTS, an NMS server, and a router in the headend. On the user's side, a cable modem is placed, connected to the internet via a coaxial cable, providing the option for connecting a WiFi router or a modem with built-in WiFi.
