Employees

We also place great emphasis on increasing awareness and understanding of environmental responsibility among our employees and encourage responsible behavior in all aspects of our business. We believe that all our employees have a role to play in our sustainability efforts. We actively work to raise awareness and provide training to our employees on environmental and sustainability issues so that we can continuously improve. Our environmental responsibility is also reflected in our values: quality, competence, accountability, and innovation.

Environmental Responsibility

We see it as our responsibility to limit the company’s negative impact on the environment and our surroundings. Environmental responsibility is an integral part of our corporate governance, and therefore we have started working on mapping our environmental footprint and focusing on continuous improvement.

Reducing Our Environmental Impact

Our goal is to reduce our environmental impact by managing various types of waste responsibly. Our main types of waste include cardboard, paper, plastic, electronic waste, glass, and metal. We practice source separation and monitor the amount of general waste through Stena Recycling.
Bredengen is a proud member of RENAS and Grønt Punkt. This ensures that we handle our electronic waste responsibly and contribute to recycling.

We are also committed to addressing waste issues with our suppliers. We ensure mutual standards by requiring suppliers to follow REACH and RoHS guidelines. These chemical regulations ensure that the production, distribution, and use of chemicals do not pose a risk to people and the environment.

Science Based Target

Bredengen has had its emission reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative as aligned with the levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

We commit to reducing scope 1 + 2 GHG emissions by 46% by 2030, calculated from 2019 as the base year.

Certified

Bredengen has for several years been certified according to the quality and environmental standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. These certifications serve as guidance for the company’s implementation of quality and environmental management systems. Through our certifications, we are able to develop and implement strategies and goals that take into account legal requirements, customer requirements, and significant environmental aspects.

Bredengen’s Environmental Goals

Certification
The goal is to remain ISO 14001 certified. Within two years, we aim to have a complete overview of which of our suppliers are ISO 14001 or Eco-Lighthouse certified and reduce the share of those who are not certified.

Sorting
Our goal is to increase the recycling rate of local waste.

Reuse
The goal is to increase the reuse of cardboard and paper and reduce the amount discarded and recycled.
Consumption: The goal is to reduce consumption and disposal of plastic waste.

Energy
The goal is to become self-sufficient with environmentally friendly electricity and reduce consumption.

Transport
The goal is to switch all customer transport to electric vehicles or other environmentally friendly alternatives by 2028. In addition, we aim to reduce the number of shipments per customer by consolidating deliveries.

Suppliers

We take our environmental responsibility seriously, also when it comes to cooperation with our suppliers and partners. We emphasize promoting sustainable practices and require environmental certification and transparency declarations from all our suppliers. In this way, we ensure that our partners also take responsibility for environmental considerations and contribute to a more sustainable future.
